Artist bio
With stints in All for More, Photoelectric, Manta Rays, and Empris, Tristan Wright is already a veteran of the independent music scene in Tulsa. Couple that with his steady output of material released under his own name, as well as his bevy of engineering credits at The Closet Studios. He has proven to be one of the most accomplished and hardest working artists in the state of Oklahoma. His re-invigorated solo project sees him backed with a ‘who’s-who’ of local talent including Nathan Glaser, Jordan Smith, and Kyle Todaro, playing a blend of older material you may have heard on KRSC 91.3, and new tracks, hot off the press. Sporting a jet-black Rickenbacker and a small army of obscure stomp-boxes, Wright is re-drawing the perimeter around 'guitar-music', and breathing new life into a Tulsa scene long-known for its insularity. Influenced by MGMT, Tame Impala, Pink Floyd, Mac DeMarco, and the Bee-Gees, the project isn’t content to simply rehash the familiar sounds of those who’ve come before. Instead, the live band broadcasts a pointed psychedelic sound – one that marries hazy, washed out overtures with a precise and calculated melodic sensibility. Led by the bell-like jangle Wright pulls from his vintage 330, they effortlessly cultivate a sonic terrain which was previously believed to be intractable.
